DESCRIPTION: George Marsh, Bristol, Conn., 8 day, time and strike weight strap brass movement hollow column empire shelf clock, c1831 This very rare clock houses an Ives designed movement and was most likely made at the Birge shop and sold by Marsh as the label states it was made for George Marsh. A similar example can be found in "The Contributions of Joseph Ives to Connecticut Clock Technology 1810-1862" by Kenneth D. Roberts, 2nd ed. pg. 107.
CONDITION: Mahogany veneered case in very nice condition in an old finish. There is a little damage on the sides of the base and small repair to the left chimney. Original painted dial looks have been professionally restored. Hands are original. Replaced tablet by Hunter Kurtz was done in 1994. A very clean label inside the case. Ht38"
